On the eve of this, their tour in support of fourth album ‘Echo Street’, Amplifier issued a stark message to their fans. In the face of declining record sales bands need fans to turn out at shows for them more than ever and, to put it simply, this has left Amplifier in a difficult position. Whilst attendances for them in Europe have never been better, fans in the UK seemingly lack the commitment to travel to shows in the same quantities, with the band struggling to sell many tickets for any of the dates on this latest jaunt around their homeland. As such the message has come loud and clear. This might be Amplifier’s last ever UK tour.

It has been seven years since Justin Timberlake released his 'FutureSex/LoveSounds' album. 'The 20/20 Experience' is possibly one of the most anticipated albums of the past few years. Considering the time since 'FutureSex/LoveSounds', the follow-up, 'The 20/20 Experience', comes from a more mature Mr Timberlake. Was it worth waiting seven years for? Personally, I think it was.

This October it will be 25 years since the release of the classic Waterboys album 'Fisherman's Blues'. To celebrate this anniversary, on 14th October, a 7-CD boxset titled 'Fisherman's Box' will be released, containing 121 tracks from the album sessions including all those on the original record and subsequent editions, plus an incredible 85 unreleased tracks.

Books aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, and before and after the chronicles of Harry Potter; they certainly weren't mine either. That was until I stumbled upon a genre that I’d previously assumed just didn’t exist if it wasn‘t a celebrity biography: those books about sex, drugs and rock n’roll. Needless to say, popular music is a genre that doesn’t require a whole lot of selling. But here, I’ll be counting down (my/our/Stereoboards?) top five music books of all time. Because, let’s face it, if you spend enough time reading about music on internet pages - you might as well read about it on actual pages too. Just a little suggestion.
